When asked what it takes to write great headlines, advertising executive Leo Burnett said this:
“Make it simple. Make it memorable. Make it inviting to look at. Make it fun to read."
This is the basis for which I want to create art. For when we create art that is simple, memorable, inviting, and fun, we create experiences (not images) that others can enjoy and interact with. And when others interact with our art, viewers become participants and participants become owners.
If the only thing your art says about you is that you are a creative person with creative abilities, it will be ignored. I've heard that story before, but create something that involves me (something that is simple, memorable, inviting, and fun) and you will make me care.
Make me care and you can make me act.
