Generosity, Scarcity, and Creativity

Some of my most favorite projects have been either unpaid or done as a favor.

As an artist a lot of people will ask you to do things for free. Not because they want to rip you off, but because (I believe) they want to help you succeed.

This will be hard to deal with, because you need work, paid work.

When you're starting a new endeavor it's best not to think about money.  I get it—of course it's easy for me, a working professional, to say this, but if you work for money you will constantly be chasing an unattainable goal and likely burn out quickly.

Learn to give generously of your creativity in times of abundance and in times of scarcity. Because even in times of scarcity you will be called upon to create something unimaginable and the last excuse you want to use is, "I don't have enough money to do it".
